We'll see you soon

Thanks to the countless students, teachers, parents, and everyone that have made the Space Center great.

We can't wait to start our next chapter with you.

We Are Almost There

Dear Friends of the Space Center,

The Space Center repairs are nearly complete. There are still lightening issues to be resolved in the Magellan. The Galileo's interior walls are waiting to be hung and the Phoenix is waiting on a few more electrical outlets. The School District has given me a February 11th deadline. Here's hoping for the best.....

The renovations cost us two beloved simulators; the Voyager and Odyssey. The Odyssey was demolished. The Voyager is used for storage.

Teachers:

The closure of the Voyager and Odyssey changes how we run Field Trips. Field Trips will use the Magellan, Phoenix and Galileo simulators. The Magellan's controls are more complicated than the Voyager's, meaning it will take students longer to train. Longer training time means shorter missions. I'm looking at a few minor programming fixes which might help. Field trips will be limited to 1 class per day (possibly 2 if your classes are no larger than 27 students). Busing will be more expensive with one class carrying the transportation cost instead of two. The District is limiting the Space Center experience to 6th grade classes this year. Schools which sent 5th and 6th graders last year will not be permitted to attend this year. Your current 6th graders attended last year. With limited days and resources, I have orders to focus on students who've never been before. Things may change next year.

Alpine Teachers:

My blog has the Field Trip calendar and Teacher Visit Information for 2013. Please look at the top of the right side bar.

To book a field trip please send an email to director@spacecamputah.org

Please include the following:

  1. Your school's name
  2. Your grade level.
  3. The number of 6th grade classes wanting to attend.
  4. Your name and phone number (cell phone preferred).

You will be contacted shortly by phone.

Please send all further questions to the same email address.

It has been a long hard road and I'm grateful for your patience and support.

Sincerely,

Victor
